What to do after a fall

Get medical care first, even if you feel embarrassed or “just bruised.” Report the fall to the manager or property owner the same day and ask for an incident report. Photograph the floor, the lighting, any warning cone (or the lack of one), and your shoes. Get names of employees and witnesses. Keep the shoes and clothes you were wearing.

Do not give a recorded statement to the property’s insurer before you talk with a lawyer.
