Fatal Shoulder Crash on Florida's Turnpike in Cutler Bay

On September 16, 2026, CBS Miami reported that a man was hit and killed on Florida's Turnpike in Cutler Bay early Wednesday morning. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened near Southwest 216th Street just before 5 a.m.

The FHP said a Honda Civic was headed south on the Turnpike when it hit the person. Investigators said the man had been standing outside of his vehicle, which was stopped on the right emergency shoulder, at the time of the fatal collision. The man died at the scene as a result of his injuries, the FHP said. CBS Miami reported that the southbound lanes were closed at Southwest 216th Street for the investigation and were reopened several hours later. The identities of those involved had not been released. The crash remains under investigation.
