Two people died after a three-car crash on Florida's Turnpike in Lauderhill on Saturday, October 31, 2026, WSVN 7News reported.
The crash happened near the Oakland Park overpass, on the stretch of the Turnpike between Commercial Boulevard and Sunrise Boulevard. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, one of the people who died was a 25-year-old woman who was a passenger in one of the cars. The driver of another car also died.
Authorities have not released the names of those who died or said what led to the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Multi-vehicle crashes on the Turnpike
When three or more vehicles are involved in a highway crash, investigators work to piece together the order of events: which vehicles made contact first, how each one moved afterward, and whether lane changes, following distance, speed, or road conditions played a part. On a busy section of the Turnpike with nearby interchanges, traffic can slow or merge quickly, and one impact can lead to others within seconds. Troopers typically rely on vehicle damage, the final positions of the cars, debris on the roadway, witness accounts, and any available video. Passengers have no control over how the vehicle is driven. Responsibility in a multi-vehicle crash can rest with more than one driver, and it is not assumed from the outcome; it depends on what the investigation shows.
Thoughts are with the families and friends of the two people who died.
