On September 9, 2026, Local 10 reported that a wrongful death lawsuit was filed after Sunday's Amazon cargo plane overrun at Miami International Airport.

According to Local 10, Yaraisi Santiso Morejon filed the complaint following the death of her husband, Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, 53. Local 10 said the lawsuit states Amazon Air Flight 7598 landed at MIA on Sunday, overran Runway 30, and struck vehicles on and near airport property, including a van driven by Rodriguez Naranjo. The filing names Amazon Inc., Amazon Air Cargo, 21 Air LLC and other related companies involved in operating the aircraft, the plane's lessors, and pilots Joseph Carroll and Jaime Felipe Silva Molina, Local 10 reported. The complaint alleges failures including pilot error, inadequate training, and use of a 32-year-old aircraft. Those are allegations in a court filing, not findings. Local 10 said the lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court of the 11th Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County. Lopez Law is not counsel on that case. The National Transportation Safety Board investigation of the overrun is ongoing.

When a runway overrun reaches the civil courts

A cargo-plane overrun that hits vehicles on the ground can pull several companies and crew into one complaint, because flying, leasing, and operating the aircraft may sit with different entities. A Miami-Dade filing records those claims. It does not decide what happened. Federal investigators still look at the landing, remaining runway, braking, and how the plane and the vehicles came together, separate from any lawsuit. Local 10 said the investigation continues.

Thoughts are with everyone affected by this crash.
