Hit-and-Run Crash Near NW 117th Street in Miami-Dade

On September 9, 2026, Local 10 and WSVN reported a hit-and-run crash near Northwest 117th Street and Northwest Seventh Avenue in northwest Miami-Dade. Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputies responded around 8:40 p.m.

According to investigators cited by Local 10 and WSVN, the driver of a silver or gray 2009–2012 Nissan Versa was traveling northbound on Northwest Seventh Avenue, made a left turn onto Northwest 117th Street, and struck two juveniles riding a shared electric bicycle along 117th Street. The driver fled. Deputies found both children unresponsive in the roadway. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took them to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. Local 10 later reported that 10-year-old Peyton died from her injuries on Thursday, and that her brother Brent remained hospitalized as of the station's September 11 update. When a left turn meets an e-bike

A car turning left across a street has far more mass and structure than a shared electric bicycle. Riders on an e-bike have almost no vehicle body between them and the impact. A nighttime left-turn strike can put both people on the pavement in one hit. When the driver leaves the scene, investigators lose immediate statements and vehicle position, so Traffic Homicide units rely on camera footage, witness accounts, and vehicle damage descriptions. Local 10 and WSVN said the search for the Nissan Versa and the investigation are ongoing.
