About 10 people were taken to hospitals after a Broward County Transit bus and a car crashed in Tamarac on Monday morning, October 26, 2026, Local 10 News reported.
A Broward Sheriff's Office spokesperson told Local 10 the crash happened just before 9:30 a.m. at Rock Island Road and West Commercial Boulevard. Medics took "approximately 10 people" to one or more area hospitals. Video from Local 10's Sky 10 showed a blue hatchback with front-end damage behind the bus.
Authorities have not released details about how badly anyone was hurt, and they have not said how the crash happened. The crash remains under investigation.
Bus passengers and crashes with many injured people
Riders on a city or county bus usually have no seatbelts, and some may be standing or moving to a seat when the bus stops or is hit. That means even a crash that looks moderate from the outside can throw riders into poles, seats, or the floor. When one crash sends several people to the hospital, each person's injuries and medical care are different, and investigators have to sort out where every person was, what the vehicles were doing, and what the traffic signals showed at a busy intersection like Rock Island Road and Commercial Boulevard. Bus systems run by a county or other government agency can also come with their own notice requirements and deadlines for injury claims, which are different from a crash between two private cars. Fault is not assumed from the damage alone; it depends on what the investigation shows.
Thoughts are with everyone who was hurt, and we hope for their full recovery.
